Welcome to the great escape. Elka Park is a 1,100 acre private, cooperative community nestled in the Greene County's northern high peak portion of the Catskill Mountains – home to panoramic views of the Hudson River and various mountain ranges. The Park, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, has 20 cottages, 17 of which were built between1890–1896 in eclectic, late Victorian style.

The homes are accessible by a network of dirt roads lined with stone walls and waterways. Composition clay tennis courts are available to all cottage owners and guests, as are the clubhouse and full sized pool. Park lands include an entire mountain, Spruce Top, as well as numerous streams and small ponds. There is an extensive network of hiking trails on Park property that offer fantastic views of the valley and that connect to the New York State trail system on Plateau Mountain.

There is a caretaker and crew to maintain the grounds and infrastructure. The clubhouse is open throughout the summer and offers an exceptional dining experience supported by a twelve person staff including an executive chef and a business manager. There are eight lodge rooms available to cottage member guests and the general public. The lodge rooms are open from late May through October.

Elka Park life is one that harkens back to the older sense of community – where children explore in a safe setting and adults enjoy a relaxed but engaging social calendar.

By car Elka Park is 45 minutes south of Albany and just over two hours from New York City. The immediate area has much to offer including downhill skiing at Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre Mountains, golf at Onteora Park and Windham and fly fishing on the Esopus and Schoharie creeks. Cultural activities are available in Woodstock, a 25 minute drive, neighboring Hunter where the Catskill Mountain Foundation is headquartered, and downtown Tannersville's at the newly renovated Orpheum Theater.
