Hiking Trails
Members and lodge guests have access to the Elka Park Spruce Top hiking trail which connects to the New York State trail system on Plateau Mountain. On clear days, the trail offers spectacular views of the Hudson River Valley, Taconic Hills, and the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts. There are many, less arduous, shorter hikes including the Cook Brook excursion. The business manager at the front desk will be able to offer general guidance on trails in and outside of the park grounds.

The New York-New Jersey trail Conference (201-512-9348), www.nynjt.org, a nonprofit and volunteer group, sells trail maps of hikes in the Catskills. The organization's Catskill Trail map ($14.95) includes the Devils Path and many adjacent trails. Other websites to check out are www.catskillguide.com and www.catskillhiker.com.
